If you want to have really clear writing don’t forget to use hyphens (-). In English we can use them to show more clearly what we are trying to communicate.Many native writers aren’t too sure about when to use hyphens so you will see different examples when you read. However, it is not too difficult to learn about using them with adjectives. Here are some examples:

We can write ‘a young girl’ but we can also write ‘ a three-year-old girl’ (not ‘a three year old girl’ or ‘a three-years-old girl’)

great-looking shoes

part-time job

five-seater car

three-page letter (not three-pages letter)

well-known singer
