Tom grew up in Brighton, not far from the sea. His parents met in March 1990 and after a short engagement they got married in July that year. However it was a difficult relationship and after a lot of arguing they separated and finally divorced in 1995. Tom got together with his first serious girlfriend when he was 18 and they are still together. They never married but are happy just to live together. Tom says their secret is all about give and take and making sure they have enough space for their own interests and friends. He hopes they will never split up.
